About Us

Our story began with Lockdown 2020

At the outbreak of the pandemic Kyla was working very happily in the care sector working long hours at the local nursing home when the world health organisation declared a worldwide pandemic and subsequently the government announced a nationwide lockdown.

It was a difficult time for the family, Paul’s mum was battling terminal cancer and we were part of her support bubble but also Kyla has active Crohn’s disease and was in a high risk category so was medically furloughed from her care job.

Paul was also furloughed from his job as a business development manager.

Kyla had an existing craft background

Kyla had long enjoyed trying her hand at craft and was always trying to do new things and be creative often including the children. One evening as the kids were heading to the bath a meltdown ensued as the children realised they had no bath bombs! Over the next few days Kyla quietly went into research mode, reading and studying and gaining all this knowledge on how to make bath bombs and soon after the first bath bombs were being made for the children Eliza & Elsie.

Being keen to share her joy in making bath bombs kyla would post on her social media and it didn’t take long for requests from family and friends who wanted to buy them… And so The Magic Fairy was about to be born.. With bath bombs and cosmetic products it’s not just as simple as making and selling… You need to go through stringent training and testing in order to get your assessment… then insurance and so forth. So much hard work and money would go into it before a bath bomb could ever be sent to a family member, friend or customer.

It was a long road, ups and downs but with the support of her family kyla remained dedicated and focused to hone her skills and produce high quality bespoke bath bombs that people would enjoy… whatever their age!

Covid Struck but inspired a new opportunity

As the pandemic had taken hold worldwide it was not possible for kyla to go back to her care job with her active Crohn’s disease so she resigned and focused full time on the magic fairy

The business really took off. A real online community was going from strength to strength with online market nights.. they were even becoming social events during lockdown where customers would all gather online with a glass of wine or a cuppa tea and purchase the bombs as they were listed! Each market night a sell out.

It wasn’t long until customer were wanting more products, kyla always keen to listen and engage with her customers to this day would take it on board and complete more assessments to be able to produce more products.

Now The Magic Fairy is backed up with a wonderful website and the famous interactive market nights are still going strong. There is big plans for the future and we wish to thank each and everyone of you for your amazing support in what’s been a difficult year.
